Islam Hadhari: Apa dan kenapa?

Abstract

Islam Hadhari, introduced by Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, the fifth Malaysian Prime Minister was inititiated various reaction among the Malaysians. This reaction was due to the vagueness of this concept, consisted in the new approach. In understanding the Islam Hadhari concept, few fundamentals points need to be explained so that the society will have a clear understanding of what it meant by Islam Hadhari and why the word Islam must be associated to the word ‘Hadhari’ (civilizational)? Does the word Islam alone not appropriate or may be not relevant anymore in the current context? Or is Islam Hadhari solely just to make it looks different and seeks publicity? Hence this paper attempts to enlighten of this concept so as the vagouness about Islam Hadhari will ease and people would be able to apply this concept especially in the development of Muslium Ummah, particularly in Malaysia.
