Abstract

Various forms of da‘wah are carried out by multiple parties to the Orang Asli (native) community in Peninsular Malaysia. One of them is through the Islamic medical method of ruqyah shar‘iyyah. This is because the native community in Malaysia still has a strong hold on traditional medicine and some of them refuse to seek treatment in hospitals. This study aims to study the forms of da‘wah through Islamic healing ruqyah shar‘iyyah to the new brothers (muallaf) of the natives in Selangor. This study carried out a qualitative methodology, an interview with five people directly involved in Islamic healing and is supported by quantitative data involving 94 respondents. The study's findings show that Islamic healing ruqyah shar‘iyyah contributes to the development of da‘wah in the native community. This study found that the forms of da‘wah carried out are wise, good advice, mujadalah, hal and uswah al-hasanah. The native community is seen as preferring to listen to guidance rather than expressing opinions or discussing matters of Islam..
